My Dream car that is now affordable is the original Godzilla GTR.
Mostly because of its history in Australian Group A touring car racing.
It beat the best Holden & Ford could put against it at the time & alot of people hated it for that reason.
I see the car as 'The Anti Bogan' car

You can now get a good one for around 20K AUD. Spend a few thousand dollars & you have a car that is cabable of keeping up / beating alot of the newer 'super cars'

Katana's lovin the Nissan Patrol;

My next project car is going to be a nissan patrol
Short Wheel base model with a 3L petrol motor
Convert the 3L petrol motor to a RB30det (twin cam top end off skyline + big turbo)
350KW at the wheels in a SWB patrol = FUN (plus broken drive train which will also need modifying)

Katana says:

just a few hints.
-the LWB patrol's had better balance than the shorties. but the SWB's are cheaper.
-and if your gonna do an engine switch, make sure you switch the trans as well, as the 3.0 petrols and the 2.8 turbo diesels had a tranny from the 300ZX (from memory) and in Patrol form these don't like too much more power than stock.
-the stock springs and shocks are very soft from the factory, but the roll bars are fairly stiff, but there is still a lot of body roll. when loaded up the suspension would sink right down, and the suspension usually wore out fairly quickly, but most springs and shocks would have been changed by now. if it isnt, get slightly stiffer springs and shocks, and if you want to take full advantage of the suprisingly decent handling, put on stiffer anti sway bars. but if your patrol has a sway bar disconnect, do not remove unless neccessary, with the sways disconnected, the patrols can get some insane suspension flex. but i have no idea if this is an offroad car.

The gearbox is my main worry (engine part already sorted - had practice on my R31 skyline wagon)

I'll find out what the guys do when they put v8's into patrols

I am still learning about setting up 4WD vehicles - practicing on my Dual cab hilux before I do a 'full on' offroad project car

if its strength you want, then a 4.2 is the way to go, the engines were used in buses and light trucks, so they are designed for torque, not power, but both engines will easily double their power output. 200kw is unheard of at the rear wheels, and thats from the diesel.

and the standard box will handle this fine.
just don't tow in 5th gear, thats a weak little overdrive gear.

sorry, i know a little too much about Patrol's

and yes, the VL Calais' were very nice, my mother and father owned one when i was a little kid, a 1987 white Turbo model.

gotta love that engine.

Hi, im new here. My favorite car is a bit sketchy.
My actual favorite car is the Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR roadster.
But, if i could HAVE any one car, it would be a Pagani Zonda F roadster in orange.
And my favorite car in terms of unimpressive spec - high performance ratio would be the Dauer 962 Le Mans road car - its only a 3.0 twin turbo flat 6, and only has 650 bhp (or 730 bhp depending on tune), yet it can top 251 mph and do 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds. And it looks absolutely gorgeous (if your into LMP cars)...(which i am).

And also, ONE of my favorite cars is the Pagani Zonda R, which i recently had the awesome experience of standing next to as it hit the redline...:D

Actually, ive got to edit this post again because if i could only afford to have one car, it would have to be realising my dream of making my own supercar, which i hav been working on for 6 years. I call it the Schnell Apollyon.(Schnell - German word for ''speed'' Apollyon - Greek word for ''destroyer'')...
